Synopsis

Bunkers tells the story of the Atlantic Wall, built during the Second World War by the Germans in order to protect the occupied French territory from possible invaders. Sixty years later, most of these formidable constructions referred to by the Germans as blockhaus, remain almost unscathed. How were so many of these fortified structures built in so little time? What was life like inside these concrete walls? How did the Allied forces ever succeed in breaking through this incredible defence? Franz Gockel, a veteran German soldier, tells us of his experience of D-Day from inside the bunker walls.
