Synopsis

Son of the director, Max Ophuls, Marcel Ophuls is both well known and unknown. In his house in Lucq de Bearn, “at the foot of the mountains that saved his life”, Marcel Ophuls comments on selected extracts of four of his films, The Sorrow and the Pity, The Memory of Justice, Hotel Terminus and The Trouble We’ve Seen. The screen becomes a public space where yesterday and tomorrow’s viewpoints confront one another. The films of Marcel Ophuls encourage us not to simply watch the passing train but to commit to judging our behaviour.
