Synopsis

How to illuminate a man in tears, or the arrival of a woman at her lover’s home, or a countryside landscape covered by a layer of clouds? Why is light so important in the expression of emotions in film?

We often talk about the scripts, the actors and the staging, but what brings a cinematographer to take his decisions? What inclines him to have a certain relationship with the director and the actors? Mysterious decisions that make the cinematographic creative process all the more interesting.

“The Crazy Machine” will show us a Figueroa like we’ve never seen before, a Mexico like we’ve never seen before.

The photographers will look at these images and we will observe these photographers as they talk about these images.

“The Crazy Machine” is the story of images that interconnect, shadows and silhouettes that are created. It is about creating emotions with Figueroa’s light. It is about moving the spectator through the interviews of some of the world’s best cinematographers. They will be reunited around this project, around one country, around one photographer.

For the spectators this will be a voyage of discovery; Mexico seen through Figueroa’s eyes; light shining through the words of the world’s best cinematographers.
