Synopsis
In our busy lives, stress is omnipresent. Too much stress takes a toll on our existence and can even be among the important causes of severe illness, such as cancer and heart disease. An American cardiologist and a French oncologist, have both independently developed surprisingly similar programs based on exercise, relaxation and meditation. Exercise alleviates the fatigue of medical treatment helping patients to regain self confidence and the energy to fight the disease. Meditation generates alpha waves in the brain, and a cascade of other effects calming mind and body. These elements are today the object of scientific research to fight the devastating effects of stress and anxiety. In Paris, Boston and Connecticut, five patients tell us the moving story of their combat. Thanks to karate, physical exercise and meditation, they are now able to see their lives in a different light.
